Product Description

The Firstlaw Fitness Shock Mount Heavy Punching Bag Hanger is another great way to hang your heavy punching bag. The Shock Mount uses gas shock technology to greatly reduce the noise and vibration created when training. Be sure to use the drop down box and select the weight of your heavy bag. Every Shock Mount uses the same chassis. The only difference is the force of the gas shock. Your Shock Mount will perform best if the correct bag weight is selected. The standard Shock Mount is designed to attach to open floor joists on 16" (center to center). It can also be mounted through drywall. For 12" & 24" joist spacing please see the Shock Mount with Extensions. Firstlaw Fitness created and manufactures 4 different styles of heavy bag mounts that are designed to attach to wooden floor joist. The Wood Beam Mount (provides no vibration absorption) - The Joist Mount (provides good vibration absorption) - The Shock Mount (provides very good vibration absorption) - The Spider Mount (provides the best vibration absorption you can buy). Please contact us if you have questions which mounting system is the right one for your application.

I set up a basement gym for COVID-era home training complete with a 100lb heavy bag. My ceiling is too low for one of those wobbly free-standing rack bag-hanger things, plus they take up a lot of floor space. So I did some research and invested in this to hang the bag directly from the studs in the ceiling. Works great and after a few months of use it shows no stress and keeps things as quiet as possible for my family upstairs. I had an older friend with some boxing experience help me install it, and he also remarked on the quality.Only one very minor issue: When I bought this I also purchased the Meister Professional Heavy Bag Spring (bought both here on Amazon) and the plastic bushings that came with the Firstlaw mount were too thick to fot the spring. So we had to switch out one of them for a couple of plastic washers stacked up to be a little less thick overall. See photo for what I am talking about. Firstlaw might want to include smaller bushings that can be combined to fit other sized springs.Overall I definitely recommend this product to someone who wants a secure hang and a minimal footprint / clean look for their training area.I shopped around for mounting options as my wife and I just built our house and we really wanted to avoid causing any future structural damage. I first stumbled upon the pro mountings one and it peaked my interest and after doing some more research, I found this one (firstlaw fitness shock mount). I was a bit hesitant because it only had 1 review but it was $20+ cheaper (the other one was $10 more + $13 shipping). So I chose the firstlaw fitness shock mount and was really impressed when it arrived. As soon as you pick it up you can really feel how sturdy and how high quality it is.My only advice for shoppers would be to actually measure how far apart your ceiling joists are. I didn't actually measure mine and it turned out that mine were 24". Completely my fault. Anyways I've ordered my extension and as soon I get it I'll quickly mount it and give my 100lb leather ringside heavy bag a go. I'll update for actual performance here in a few days.I'm really surprised that I'm only the 2nd person to write a review.Edit: I've had my bag up and mounted now for about a week and a half and I'm using it every morning. So far so good. I don't wake up my wife in the mornings while I'm working out in my garage and the vibrations don't seem to be passed on into the studs so far. Still happy with this product.-MarcoI bought this product August of 2017. I finally got a chance to hang it up January 2016. When I got up close to the large beam that appeared to be wood, I saw some small paint flaking and noticed there was metal below it. Turned out it was a metal ibeam not a large wooden one. It had been plastered over in such a way to resemble the rest of the walls. This was the only place I had to hang the item. I thought I was going to be out a hundred and forty bucks.I called up Firstlaw and expected them to push back. The opposite happened. The representative on the other end was incredibly friendly and helpful. I was blown away. He had no problem with me sending the product back and they promptly refunded me. I hate not being able to hang a bag, but I was thrilled I was able to return the shock mount without any issues. Thank you Firstlaw!!!If I had this as a kid in my basement “kung fu studio,” my house would not have fallen down LOL . I was very skeptical about the efficacy of this product, would it work, would it absorb the shock, would it break under heavy use? This thing is a damper that is controlled by a hydraulic piston and let me tell you it absorbs about 95% of the shock the 119lb heavy suffers. This product is very heavy duty and appears not to be some kind of gimmick device associated with pugilistic training. Only time will tell how it holds up but not disturbing my family while training, not destroying ceiling joist or relying on an I hook and swivel, this damper is well worth the cost.Another way to keep things quiet is to purchase heavy bags that use straps rather that metal chains that make noise.I purchased this to hang 100 pound boxing bag and its perfect. I had some hard time centering the joist/stud as the spacing was longer than shock mount specs. I wish instead of opening in four corners, if more it had adjustable screw holes it would have made my installation much easier. I had added 3x6 support to joist and adjust the center accordingly. 4 stars is just for that reason otherwise its great and I recommend it.I like that the install was easy. Took my a half hour with 2 people. Recommend following the install instructions and use a little oil on the anchor screws. The bag doesn’t make any noise when I hit it But there is a little vibration on the rafters. The ceiling fan shakes a little bit and that is approximately 4 feet away from the shock mount. Overall satisfied with this product.Outstanding device...had the bag mounted to ceiling, whole house shook with every strike. Installed this, can barely tell it’s being used in the next room.I'm very happy with this produce, I feel safe to hang my bag up now because I can get in my work and not worry about the bag falling or pulling down a beam or something.
